Wheel Level 1.5 - Wed 6:30pm Tour niveau 1.5 pour adultes mer 18h30 Londe McClelland English / Anglais Wednesday/Mercredi 6:30 PM 9:00 PM 5/14/2025 6/18/2025 344 Register – Inscrire This course is aimed at students who have completed at least one Level 1 (multiple would be preferable) and are able to consistently center and throw a cylinder as high as it is wide. This more advanced class will push students to make more technically difficult forms. Prerequisite: At least one level 1 wheel class. Ability to center and pull walls up consistently, if unsure please contact the school to discuss which class is best suited to you. 10kg of clay included, with more available for purchase. The class will experiment with different decorating styles using patterns, embellishments, and underglaze colors and slips to enhance their work. There will be a deeper tutorial in glazing and decorating techniques to enhance patterns and textures on the students work. Materials included. No prerequisite is required. Ages:12 to adult. Please bring an apron or an old towel to protect your clothes.Au cours de ce cours de 6 semaines, les etudiants apprendront les bases de la façonnage céramiques fonctionnelles et décoratives. Textured Rolling Pins GPS has several different rolling pins like these in our studio we order from Sharon Hoppe Designs Solid Falcon rolling pin Large solid wooden rolling pin Bamboo Brush These brushes are our favourite for applying slip, underglaze and glaze. Link is to PSH but most pottery stores will carry them in a variety of sizes Hake Brush These brushes are great for covering a large area in slip on glaze. Available at most pottery supply stores Mud Tools Small Shredder These handy little shredders are great for cleaning up rims, leveling out pots and so many other tasks. Blades are replaceable. Also available in a long flat version Mud tools Cutting Wire These are a staff favourite for cutting wires. They wire doesn't kink and these handles are much easier to use than the wood ones. Found at almost all pottery supply stores GR Pottery Forms We have a number of GR Pottery Forms in Room 1 for making plates and trays. Most pottery supply stores will carry them Mud Tools When we set up individual tool kits for classes we made sure to splurge a little and include these. Each colour is a different hardness and they come in a variety of shapes Banding Wheel These are the banding wheels you will find in Room 1. They are really similar to the Shimpo but a bit more affordable. Staff and students love them. MDO Plywood Medium Density Overlay (MDO) Plywood is arguable to best material to work on. It is smooth so no texture when rolling slabs, easy to clean so no dust like canvas, porous so things don't stick too much and very durable. All of our handbuilding tables are topped with it. You can make ware boards, bats and more from it. This material is commonly used by sign painters. It can sometimes be a bit tricky to track down, Home Hardware building centers and other smaller specialized companies will carry it or can order it in. It's a bit pricey but it is worth it.
